5 Days Mt Kenya Climbing Sirimon Down Narumoru Route

The scenery on this side of the mountain is more impressive than Naromoru, and some of the finest walking opportunities are on the mountains dry side. Climb through the forest and onto a broad ridge to reach the summit area. The route starts near Nanyuki on the northwest face of the mountain. The bunk house amenities here are the best on this side of the mountain, and access is adequate.
Additional Information on the Sirimon Route: Despite being the least popular, it offers the best acclimatization options and the most gradual ascent. The route winds through stunning Yellowwood forests that eventually transition into moorland covered in giant heather.
The Sirimon Route provides breathtaking alpine scenery and abundant wildlife in its upper reaches. Simba Col connects the head of Mackinders Valley to the Austrian Hut and Point Lenana.
Key locations and camps include Mackinders Valley, Shiptons Camp (4200 m), Old Moses Camp (3300 m), Sirimon Gate (2500 m), and Liki North Camp (4000 m).

Day 1: Nairobi to Sirimon Gate - Old Moses Camp
Depart Nairobi at 8 am, drive to Nanyuki for lunch. Proceed to Sirimon Gate and trek to Old Moses Camp (3300 m) for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Old Moses Camp to Shiptons Camp
After breakfast, hike through Ontulili and Liki valleys to Shiptons Camp (4200 m) for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Acclimatization Day at Shiptons Camp
Spend the day acclimatizing around Shiptons Camp with short hikes to higher elevations.
Day 4: Shiptons Camp to Point Lenana - Mackinders Camp
Start early, around 3 am, to summit Point Lenana (4985 m) by sunrise. Descend to Mackinders Camp (4200 m) for breakfast, then continue down to Met Station for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Met Station to Naromoru Gate - Nairobi
After breakfast, descend to Naromoru Gate and transfer back to Nairobi, arriving in the late afternoon.
